When I try to purchase a book it appears it's downloading but doesn't. If I'm able to get a sample & try to buy it the sample goes away & no new book. There are funds in my iTunes acct. Help!

Mine just did this very same thing. I even went in and purchased it again in case I did something wrong the first time. Still no book! I had this happen a couple weeks ago, but when I closed iBooks and reopened it, the book was there. This time that hasn't happened. I prefer reading on iBook but I'm not if my books won't download
At least I'm not the only one. But very frustrating. 😟
I Am having the same problem. I cannot download a book for either my iPhone or iPad, anybody know what is going on?
Go to General
Go Reset
Do Reset All Settings
It will restart your ipad/iphone , you have to do your wireless settings again.
It will not delete anything but it will fix all " not downloading ibooks " problems
